Line traffic with container feeders back in Port of Piteå

During the spring, line traffic with container feeders was resumed via Port of Piteå with both import and export of goods every other week.
– This strengthens our role as an important hub for trade in the region and increases the possibilities for efficient container handling for business, says Ulrika Nilsson, CEO, Piteå Hamn AB.

The new line is re-introduced by the shipping company X-Press Feeder and goes via Hamburg and Wilhelmshaven to Piteå. From northern Sweden, the export goods initially comes from sawmills in the region.

Via the ports along the Gulf of Bothnia, there has already been a large export flow of products from the forest industry. Container feeder traffic at sea has had a hiatus since the pandemic, but has now been reinstated again, and this benefits both existing and new transport buyers.

For Port of Piteå this is an important step in the development of the business and the range of transport solutions.
– Together with ShoreLink, we work continuously to meet the needs of our customers, says Ulrika Nilsson.
