We at the Port of Pite\u00e5 have recently initiated a collaboration with the Swedish Customs (Tullverket) to jointly strengthen efforts against customs crime. By sharing knowledge and experience, we aim to contribute to safer transport flows and a more secure logistics network.<\/strong><\/p>\n

As part of a joint initiative to combat customs-related crime, the Port of Pite\u00e5 and the Swedish Customs have signed an SMT agreement \u2013 Samverkan mot Tullbrottslighet<\/em> (Collaboration Against Customs Crime). The purpose is to combine each party\u2019s expertise, experience, and network to prevent crime and detect irregularities at an early stage.<\/p>\n

The collaboration is based on a number of concrete measures to counter smuggling and undue influence. By keeping communication channels open and active, we create a safe and transparent working environment. The Port of Pite\u00e5 contributes industry insights and knowledge of our transport flows, while the Swedish Customs provides staff training and a designated point of contact for swift and trusted information exchange.<\/p>\n

The agreement will be continuously monitored and adjusted as needed. Both the Port of Pite\u00e5 and the Swedish Customs emphasize the importance of a long-term partnership built on trust and shared responsibility.<\/p>\n

As part of the collaboration, we were visited in early May by Sven Eriksson, intelligence officer at the Swedish Customs, and Erik Furmark, customs inspector and dog handler in Haparanda. Together, they highlighted the importance of collaboration and delivered a presentation featuring concrete examples of how customs cooperation works in practice \u2013 both for the Port of Pite\u00e5 and ShoreLink \u2013 along with insights into the current state of customs crime in Sweden.<\/p>\n
